Hidden Star

November 14, 2017

I stand by the opinion that “hole-in-the-wall” places are usually some of the best eateries. Thai Star is no exception.

Thai Star is located in a nearly empty shopping strip off Midway. It’s a small restaurant that has 5 booths and possibly 11 tables. Lunch hour rush is no joke. If you want a table, arrive before 11:30.

Even with the colder weather, an Iced Thai Tea is a must. It comes in a bowl-sized margarita glass. Thai Star’s tea isn’t as sweet as others I’ve had which was a nice surprise for me. (I’m from Texas but I’m not a fan of overly sweet tea.)

Each entree comes with either a soup or salad. Though I highly recommend the soup, if you can’t handle spicy, go for the salad. The cup of soup was spicier than my 3 level spice Pad Kee Mow.
Pad Kee Mow is one of my all-time favorite dishes. Thai Star did a fantastic job. As with every Thai restaurant I’ve been to, the serving size was two meals worth.

Thai Star is worth a try. Just don’t judge a restaurant by its exterior.
