This Thursday’s post is a little different. Instead of listing all of this weekend’s events, this is dedicated to awesome women who have raised or are currently raising children. You’ll find freebies for moms, brunch ideas, and other ideas to celebrate mom.
Let’s start with freebies.
Abuelo’s: The Mexican restaurant chain is giving away gifts to moms at all locations Sunday. Gifts vary by region and options include free shirts, flowers or a free entrée bounce back card.
Another Broken Egg Cafe: Moms who dine-in Saturday or Sunday get a free $10 Brunch Buck to redeem May 14-27.
Cafe Izmir: Mother’s get free dessert & bubbles. Now taking reservations for Mother’s Day dinner. Every mom gets a free dessert & glass of bubbles with their dinner purchase.
El Fenix: Moms get a free Sopapilla with purchase of any entrée Sunday. Choose from regular, strawberry paradise or chocolate caramel.
Fogo de Chao: Visit any of the Fogo de Chao restaurants in D-FW on Mother’s Day between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m., and each mom will go home with a free gift card, good for one lunch or dinner in the future at Fogo. The restaurant is a churrascaria that specializes in generous portions of meat and seafood.
Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament: Through Sunday, mom is free with the purchase of one full-priced adult with code MOM18. A Mother’s Day package upgrade, which includes a “Mom’s the Queen” sash, souvenir glass of champagne or mimosa and framed photo, is available for $20 during checkout or at the door.
Pizza Inn: If you’re part of the rewards club, here’s the deal: Buy one adult buffet, get one free for mom. It’s valid on Mother’s Day only, and for only one mom.
Pluckers Wing Bar: Each mom gets a free entree, side and non-alcoholic beverage, up to $15 in value, at Pluckers. The catch: Families have to post a family photo to Facebook or Instagram, marked with the hashtag #Pluckers. It’s a good option for a quick meal, especially if you’ve got kids in tow.
Roy’s Restaurant: To celebrate chain’s 30th anniversary, each table Sunday gets a $30 dining card to use May 14 through June 15. Restaurants also will open at 9 a.m. Sunday for a special three-course brunch and the special dinner menu starts at 3 p.m.
Ruth’s Chris Steak House: Moms get a free $25 dining card Saturday and Sunday that can be redeemed May 14 through July 1 at participating locations. Some exclusions apply.
Smartphone app Ibotta is offering moms across the country a free mimosa Sunday at all bars and restaurants through a special cashback rebate.
TCBY: Moms get their first six ounces of frozen yogurt free at participating locations Sunday.
Texas de Brazil: Moms dining in Sunday get a $20 certificate to redeem on two dinners Monday through Thursday between May 14 and July 31. Most locations are opening early at 11 a.m.
Tupelo Honey: This Frisco restaurant is celebrating Mother’s Day all weekend. From May 11 through 14, anyone who orders an entree after 4 p.m. gets a free dessert.
Bass Pro Shops: From noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, get a free 4-by-6-inch photo at the outdoors store. Plus, on Sunday, the first 100 to get their photo taken get a free accessories bag and sunglasses case. Limit one per family, while supplies last.
Cabela’s: From noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, get a free 4-by-6-inch photo at the outdoors store.
Mother’s Day Photos: Have their picture taken by a photographer at Lovers Lane United Methodist Church between services from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

504 Bar and Grill: All mom’s receive 50% off any brunch entree. Brunch is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Bird Cafe: Sample chef Kyle Baker’s almond pancakes served with walnut toffee and cinnamon butter, or go healthier with roasted asparagus, grilled ham and poached eggs. Brunch runs 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mother’s Day.
Cru Food and Wine Bar: How about a wine country brunch that doesn’t involve leaving the big city? At Cru, diners choose from three courses from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Mother’s Day. Menu options include goat cheese beignets, truffle lobster mac and cheese and chocolate lava cake.
Fearing’s: For brunch with modern Texas flair from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Mother’s Day, longtime Dallas chef Dean Fearing and his team are serving dishes like blackberry barbecue-glazed Texas quail; foie gras with beignets and strawberry-rhubarb jam; and West Texas filet mignon and lobster omelets. Moms who dine at Fearing’s will get 15 percent off a spa visit at the Ritz-Carlton.
Five Sixty: Put Mom on top of the world by taking her up, up, up to the restaurant inside Reunion Tower. Five Sixty, a Wolfgang Puck restaurant, specializes in Asian cuisine. Three courses from 11 a.m to 2:30 p.m. on Mother’s Day include items such as crab cake Benedict and Korean fried chicken and waffles.
Green Door Public House: Treat Mom to delicious farm fresh breakfast with half priced mimosa carafes from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
Lark on the Park: Brunch from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Mother’s Day is a la carte, which means Mom can order whatever she likes. We’ve got our eye on the sweet potato chip crusted fried chicken or the brown butter blueberry pancakes.
Meddlesome Moth: Let Chef Robbie and our staff take great care of that important woman in your life. Brunch is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Mercat Bistro: Mercat Bistro is known for flaming and preparing delicious tagliatelle pasta table-side on the weekdays. Now, the contemporary European bistro brings exciting experiential flair to weekend brunch with brand new cocktails that mom will love! Pair signature brunch items with special items only available on that day. Brunch is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Mudhen Meat and Greens: Treat Mom to brunch at Mudhen this Mother’s Day. In addition to the regular menu of brunch favorites, Chef Suki has put together specials that Mom (and you) will love. In addition, the bar will be serving special, fresh cocktails and juices to liven everyone’s spirits!
Ocean Prime: Take your loved ones to Ocean Prime in Uptown Dallas from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Mother’s Day for an a la carte brunch. Consider it special, too: Ocean Prime is open for brunch only on certain holidays. Menu options include French toast, quiche, blackened salmon salad and more.
State & Allen: This quaint restaurant serves Mother’s Day brunch from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Here’s why it’s different from the others: Moms get free flowers to take home. And there’s a build-your-own mimosa and Bloody Mary bar
Table 13: At this restaurant, which describes its decor as “1960s Vegas,” diners will find live music all day on Mother’s Day. Dining options include bacon-wrapped dates, lobster bisque, shrimp scampi, surf ‘n’ turf and the like. Mimosas and Bloody Marys cost $5. Table 13 starts with brunch at 11 a.m. on Mother’s Day but stays open until 8 p.m.
The Mercury: Celebrate Mother’s Day at The Mercury this year with a buffet-style brunch. Chef Chris Ward has prepared a menu for the whole family featuring an array of first course, entree, accompaniment, brunch and dessert offerings. Brunch is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Stoneleigh: Enjoy a Pop-Up Flower Shop and Create-Your-Own Mimosa Bar and celebrate Mother’s Day in the Stoneleigh Court on Sunday, May 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Truluck’s: Brunch at Truluck’s starts on Mother’s Day at 11 a.m. but you can also go for lunch or dinner, through 9 p.m. that day. This restaurant specializes in seafood, such as a Mediterranean salad topped with crab, shrimp and calamari, though it’s also offering short-rib hash browns and chicken-fried steak and eggs. Ask if Mom wants to start with the Mother’s Daydream: a stylish cocktail with vodka, lemon juice, mint leaves and more.
