Noble Rey is more than clever names and fun packaging, it’s interesting and good beer.
Dallas as a whole is booming with breweries. The Design District has seen the bulk of the boom with six breweries, Noble Rey is one of the newest. Noble Rey has beer, cider, and mead. They open their taproom 2 years ago as of July. One unique feature of the taproom is they offer “guest taps”, brews from other breweries in Texas.
I’ll admit that I’m a sucker for good packaging design and branding. I first noticed Noble Rey because of this. Thanks to Magnificent Beard, Noble Rey has clever “characters” and design to go along with their equally clever names. Opposite of Peticolas, they do can their beer. You’ll see their “characters” on cans, on their chalk wall, shirts, stickers, and glasses. Luckily, what’s inside is good as well.
I had to try the newly released “You Gose First”, a blackberry gose with smoke sea salt. I’ve never had anything like it. It may come close to a cider but there’s a distinctive difference. It’s a great summertime drink, not heavy and nice flavors.
They are open Wednesday-Sunday and do offer tours around the brewery as well.
