The Vandoliers are forging the way for the genre affectionately known as Cowpunk.
Remember Rockabilly? Well, what would you call Texas musicians influenced by country artists but also played in a punk band? Enter “Cowpunk”. Vandoliers have created a new area of music just for themselves. One song on the album might sound punk with a hint of twang or it’ll start with a fiddle and trumpet leading into a blues guitar. Either way, it’ll be a party throughout.
“The Native” is the Vandoliers’ second album. And it’s garnering them some well-earned attention. Though just released in May, “The Native” is already being called the second-best album of the year and is featured in Rolling Stone. Listening to “Endless Summer” will bring back some nostalgic memories.
It could be said that regardless of the genre the upbeat tempos and Joshua Flemings voice create an organized jam session. An energy that carries them through during their shows. The Vandoliers are now on tour and will be in Texas several times. The next Dallas show is on July 28th at the Rustic. Their other Texas shows are: San Angelo 7/29; Houston 8/25 & 9/29; Fort Worth 8/26; New Braunfels 9/2; Dallas 9/23; San Marcos 9/30; and Plano 12/23.
